Paula's art interest began in southern California during her High School years.  After  marriage to her husband, she lived in Fresno, CA. and then in Mapleton, Utah where they raised their four children.  Her talent continued to develop during this time and even more as they retired to the beautiful red desert of St. George, Utah. She has enjoyed meeting such friendly people as well as becoming involved in the art community.

Paula graduated from Brigham Young University in Child Development taking as many art classes as she could fit in her schedule.  She is basically self-taught, but has also taken the opportunity to attend workshops and demonstrations over the years to glean from the experience and methods of others.

Early in her career she worked for “Provo Craft Publishing” as a freelance designer.  They published five books featuring her designs.  She also started a business hand painting women and children’s clothing as well as having her designs screen printed on shirts.

For several years, Paula taught children’s art, primarily drawing.  This had a definite influence on her future.  She developed a fascination for painting children both in fantasy settings and in realism.   Over the years, her own unique style emerged.  Her passion is painting women, children, and babies but she continues to broaden her subject matter to include floral, and landscape.

Since moving “south” Paula has been showing her works and has won a number of awards. She has been represented by Kolob Art Gallery and by InterContinental, a New York licensing company.  She is a signature member of the Southern Utah Watercolor Society.  She continues to be drawn to watercolor, even though it sometimes can be frustrating.  She loves the beautiful “happenings” of color mixing on paper, the sparkle of transparent paint, and the challenge.
